Concept of a training center is changing from year to year. From our old model-not well painted classrooms to a well finished, designed with colorful bright paints classrooms are today’s picture. In DDU-GKY, the concept of Look and Feel of training centers are not much cared in initial stage. Like the CEO of Odisha skills explained in his speech at NIRDPR, ‘the DIGINITY and CONFIDENCE of candidate is very important in a training institute’. Through a well maintained training center, the feel of DIGINITY of a trainee will improve very much. The feel of ownership of the student will increase. Its similar to the funny comparisons made between the gully roads in Indian cities to that of Singapore. The same person who spits in Indian roads will think twice for that if he walks through the streets of Singapore. Summarily, the Look and Feel matters.
The misfortunes of Self financing Engineering colleges in all over India has created a different opportunity for Project Implementation Agencies in DDUGKY especially in Kerala. The demand of engineering courses have declined drastically over the past 5 years. During those boom for engineering a lot of private engineering colleges opened in Kerala. But now they are in a stage of economic collapse due to the lesser no.of student admissions. Those vacant classrooms and computer labs are now opens to DDUGKY candidates.
Finding a good infrastructure and setting up it adherence to DDUGKY standards is always an initial challenge for PIAs. With the limited time and geographic constraints, getting a good infrastructure and starting training in 60 days is challenging. They may compromise in some areas due to those challenges. But now the availability of vacant classrooms in private colleges eases the job of PIAs. These engineering colleges have big classrooms and spacious corridors. Also they may be having hostels for Boys and Girls. The specification of the rooms will be very much larger than DDUGKY standards. So the PIAs can setup the training center with minimum alterations and modifications. The amount they spent on partitions and modifications in an open building will have to be spent on the higher rent of engineering colleges in this case. But Time and effort is minimum.
Currently in Kerala, from Phase-6 projects, a number of PIAs set up their TCs in Private Engineering Colleges. ACCESS SOLAR LTD, FOCUS 4D CAREER EDUCATION PRIVATE LIMITED, IIB EDUCATION PRIVATE LIMITED, INNOVISION LIMITED, PSN CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT PRIVATE LIMITED, RAJAGIRI COLLEGE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, TEAMLEASE SERVICES LTD, AURA EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY, BALANAGAR TECHNICAL INSTITUTE ASSOCIATION, DR CT EAPEN TRUST, INDUCTUS CONSULTANTS PRIVATE LIMITED, MANAPPURAM FOUNDATION, FRIENDS FORUM etc are those PIAs. The candidates of these training centres are getting spacious classrooms, IT Labs, good hostel facilities, well arranged mess halls etc. Also, from the provision of internal games in SOP of DDUGKY to the possibility of outdoor games of these college grounds. Candidates can explore more team games and can conduct more recreation activities through that.
This model of utility of vacant college facilities can be replicated through out the country in every state in DDU-GKY.
