MoRD-Logistics Sector Skill Council-Kudumbashree_Virtual Job Mela

DDU-GKY Guidelines point no 3.2.1.2 describes about organization of Job Mela. It is mentioned that Job melas are to be organized by the SRLM (either directly or with the help of PIAs) at the block and GP level to the extent possible. This should bring potential employers and local youth face to face. These Melas are primarily meant for those who have employable skills acquired without participating in the training programs funded under DDU-GKY. However, this should not prevent those already trained from using these job melas to improve their job prospects.

A Webinar with Logistic Sector Skill Council and Logistic Sector Stakeholders like Amazon, Flipkart, RIL along with MoRD team, CTSA team and States/UT SRLM representatives was held on 29th July 2020 under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary, Skills, MoRD to understand immediate demand in the industry.

Objective of the Webinar was;

1.To know requirement of Skilled Human Resource in the Sector
2.To Understand type of job opportunities available for Rural Youth
3.Possibility of dovetailing training as per Human resource requirement

In continuation, DDU-GKY division of MoRD has received the demand of around 1,60,000 candidates from LSC across States. In order to support the DDU-GKY trained and unplaced candidates in the states, MoRD along with Logistics Sector Skill Council and States has planned a ‘Mega Virtual Job Fair’ for DDU-GKY candidates. The Job melas were planned to schedule zonal wise (North, South, North East & West) and it began from 25th Aug 2020.

As part of this, In Kerala, the virtual job mela was scheduled on 14th September 2020. SRLM has shared the details (Employer details, job roles etc)  of the mela with the PIAs through the Placement officers of each PIAs. PIAs spread the message to their candidates, collected details of interested candidates and updated the candidates’ details in the google sheet shared by the SRLM. As per the operational guidelines shared by the LSC, the prospective employers were Delhivery, ECom Express, Flipkart and Reliance Industries Limited (South India). Projected total vacancies were of 3746 across kerala. SRLM has received details of 213 interested candidates of 14 PIAs and the details were forwarded to the SPOC of the LSC. LSC has allocated time slots for each PIA for the online job mela on 14.09.2020 from 10AM to 4PM. Three employers (Ecom Express, Flipkart Delivery & Flipkart Warehouse) came up for the drive and candidates are allowed to attend the drive through GoToMeeting video conferencing platform.

Mr. K R Jayan -SPM (Placement & tracking) from SRLM, CTSA team members Mr.Binukumar and Mr.Aswin Ramachandran did the coordination of the drive through dedicated Whatsapp group, calls and guiding the candidates in online session. Representatives from employer and LSC were organised and explained the Job profile & details to the candidates. SRLM and CTSA team member helped the candidates to understand the details in regional language. In the first round, LSC/Employer collected details and preferences of interested candidates. Candidates from each PIA were joined according to the time slot. The average salary offered was from Rs.10000 to 15000 for Delivery executive/Warehouse executive positions. 121 candidates put up their interest in Ecom express, 111 for Flipkart warehouse and 33 for Flipkart delivery. LSC had shortlisted the list and forwarded to employers for second round interviews.

SRLM is awaiting the job offer details from Logistic sector skill council.
