Krishna Kumar’s journey from Vaishali to Japan

It is inspiring to hear him say, “आज मैं अपने पैरों पर खड़ा होकर अपने परिवार का भरण-पोषण कर रहा हूं।”
DDU-GKY’s intervention has visibly transformed the life of Krishna Kumar, a resident of Jandaha, Vaishali District in Bihar who belongs to a BPL family of four members who were totally dependent on the income of their father. His income was barely enough to run the family. Krishna, an optimist and hard worker, completed his basic schooling in his village and passed 10th grade in 2018. He was idle in his village. He got information about the DDU-GKY project from a mobilizer and was informed that Vision India Services Pvt Ltd in Muzaffarpur was running a project where he could receive placement-oriented training, food, and other benefits for free. He visited the center to learn more about the project and his future career prospects. He got enrolled in the Fitter-Fabrication trade and was placed at Minda Furukawa Electric Pvt. Ltd. in Bawal, Haryana, at a salary of Rs. 8542/- per month after completing the course in March 2019. He then received the opportunity to work at Motherson Sumi System Limited and has been employed there for the past three years. He has now been promoted and transferred to Japan as a quality instructor, where he earns a monthly salary of Rs. 43088/- (78000 Yen JPY). He sends money home every month, being the first employed person in his family.
Women empowerment under DDU-GKY Project
A busy evening in October as usual at DDU-GKY Resource Cell, NIRDPR. One of the Directors’ cell phone rang. On the other side was Jagadeeswara Reddy, Project Officer DDU-GKY, NIRDPR, who had gone for one sample placement verification at Color Dreams, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Jagadeesh had called to share a surprise he encountered there. He found that 400 candidates who were trained under DDU-GKY project were working with the aforementioned employer.
The officer greeted all the DDU-GKY candidates and interacted with a few of them and enquired about their wellbeing and working atmosphere over there. The officer was exuberant after meeting the entire lot of working DDU-GKY candidates.

All these candidates majorly hail from the States of Assam, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Director (Monitoring & Evaluation) DDU-GKY –NIRDPR Visits UT of Jammu & Kashmir
Director (Monitoring & Evaluation) DDU-GKY (NIRDPR) Sri L Sudhakara Reddy, visited UT of Jammu & Kashmir and inspected two Himayat training centers one each in Srinagar and Jammu. He interacted with the enrolled candidates in the training center, Training staff and Operational Staff of PIA. He also had detailed meetings with COO-HMMU on various aspects of the scheme and interacted with the staff of HMMU.

3-Day Training program conducted for Gujarat on 26th, 27th and 30th Oct 2023
In the month of Oct’23, 03 training programmes were conducted, in offline mode at Gandhinagar, Gujarat by NIRDP&PR Hyderabad for the different stakeholders involving representation from all the district officials of Gujarat SRLM (GLPC), PIAs’ Finance Heads, and PIAs’ MIS Heads/executives.
The first day training workshop was arranged on the thematic or assigned areas of program implementation for the district officials of Gujarat SRLM covering mobilization, Due Diligence, Centre Inspections and Batch verification.
The second day of the training workshop was on the topics of Project Financial Procedures and PFMS for the PIAs’ Finance Heads and members working for to Gujarat.
The third day of the training workshop was conducted on all functional modules of Kaushal Bharat for the PIAs’ MIS Heads and Executives.
The total participants in these programs were 101.

Sh Anil Malik IAS Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development Department inaugurated HSRLM Call Centre at Panchkula on 25 Oct 2023. Hon’ble Chief Minister Haryana made an announcement during JAN SAMVAD that regular queries of various schemes will be answered through a Call Centre. The call centre operators have been selected from rural candidates trained under DDUGKY and SHG members. Speaking on the occasion, ACS, Rural development said, this is one of the important initiatives by HSRLM to make skilling and Self Help Group (SHG) support more accessible to the rural candidates.

Gandhi Jayanti (ALEAP) – ALEAP DDU-GKY, Kerala
October 2 is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who always dreamt of Swachh Bharat. ALEAP DDUGKY arranged a cleaning program at the center following the theme “EK THAREEK EK GHANTA EK SATH” which means one date one hour together. We started with pledge for Swachata and single use plastic ban, speech emphasizing “RRR ” reduce reuse recycle followed by well coordinated cleaning of center and its premises by both students and staff. Everyone participated actively and made it a success.

Swachhada Pakhwada activities at KARD Skill Academy, Kerala
Swachhada Pakhwada activities were held in KARD Skill Academy, Kadakkal on 2nd October 2023. KARD Skill Academy is managed by Kerala Association for Rural Development (KARD). The staffs and students gathered in the ground and recited a pledge on Swachhatha Pakhwada. The CEO of KARD Skill Academy Sri. Unni Kurup inaugurated the programme by delivering an explanatory speech on Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachhatha Pakhwada activities focus on the issues and practices of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene. The students of Secretary batch and Commis Chef batch cleaned their hostels, toilets and the premises of KARD Skill Academy. They removed the plastic wastes and useless materials from the surrounding areas which were seen at sixes and sevens. Sweets were distributed to all participants of the mission.

Send off ceremony for the Secretary batch students, KARD Skill Academy, Kerala
A send off ceremony was held on 3rd October 2023 at KARD Skill Academy, Kadakkal for the secretary batch students who completed their class room training. The parental institution of KARD Skill Academy is “Kerala Association for Rural Development” which is an NGO situated in Kalluvathukkal, Kollam. All the students attended the programme along with their parents. The proceedings started with a soothing prayer recited by the students. Welcome speech was held by the centre head. In the presidential speech, KARD chairman Dr. Nadakkal Sasi said “As far as the present situation is concerned, a job oriented course must be done by every youth for their survival. KARD Skill Academy is providing such courses under DDU-GKY, JSS and PMKVY schemes which enable the youth to work in various fields.” Felicitation speech was held by KARD Skill Academy CEO, Sri. Unni Kurup. Sri. Prakash P.S, English trainer proposed a vote of thanks. These students are supposed to do on-the-job training for 45 days.

Women in Skilling:
Bhawna Dogra-Fashion Designer Trainer in Himayat, J&K
Bhawna Dogra is a Trainer of domain Assistant Fashion Designer of PIA M/s Sun Retail Ltd since May 2022 and working in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir in the Himayat Project under DDU-GKY. She belongs to Upper Chowadhi area of District Jammu. She is a diploma holder in fashion designing from the Government Polytechnic College, Jammu. She stated that she never got any support from her family for doing anything, but she had a passion for designing and tailoring and wanted to be an independent girl. Even after so many disagreements with her family, she pursued her dream and opened her own boutique and from that day she wished that the hurdles she had faced were not being faced by another girl. Then she decided to give training to other girls in her boutique, but she always desired to give training to poor girls in large number so that they can also become independent like her, then she got to know about Himayat scheme where candidates specially girls can take acquire the art of stitching, designing and cutting proper training and that free of cost. This initiative by Govt. compelled to her to become a part of this scheme, when she got to know about a vacancy of Assistant Fashion Designer trainer in one of the PIAs in Himayat .After going through an interview she got selected for the same and since then she has trained 70 trainees and other 35 are under training. Many trainees got placed under her guidance and few of them have opened their own boutiques.

One can easily see the sparkle in her eyes while narrating the fulfillment of her desire to train girls in her area of expertise. She proudly thanked Govt. of India and HMMU for giving this opportunity to poor girls and a trainer like her who always wanted to support her family and want others to become independent. Huge chunk of her trained candidates had got placement opportunities in Hyderabad, Himachal Pradesh, Ambala etc. None of them had ever thought of working in such big cities and getting good industrial experiences, she was overwhelmed to see such a fathomable transformation of candidates.
Diksha Rajput, Domain Trainer Himayat-J&K
Diksha Rajput is Domain Trainer of PIA M/S Mass Infotech Society since April 2022 and working at Kathua, one of the districts of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir in the Himayat project under DDU-GKY. Mass Infotech Society is a Haryana Based organization working in different states of India. Hailing from Village Poonda Block Basholi District Kathua, she is a Post-graduate. In one of the mobilization and awareness camps in her area , She enrolled herself in the Himayat Training in Trade BFSI under PIA TeamLease and after completing her training, She got placed in connect Business at Mohali. She worked in Connect Business for 11 months and then she got an offer from Competent Synergies and worked there for 1.5 yrs. After that she joined Mass InfoTech Society under Project Himayat at Kathua in 2022 and continuing her job as Domain Trainer. Since 2022, she has been working with the same organization with an aim to help unemployed youth to get an opportunity to be skilled and get placed in different sectors. She also participated in different training related activities like mobilization, counseling and placement drives with the centre team.

She narrated that she had successfully trained 88 candidates, out of which 54 are placed in various organizations based in different locations in Chandigarh, Kathua, and Katra. Around 32 candidates are placed in Chandigarh in organizations like Competent Synergies, Teleperformance , Dr ITM etc.
Experience sharing of Training Center Inspections at Rajasthan by Project Officer Mr. Sumeet Mahajan, DDU-GKY, NIRDPR
In the month of October, Mr. Sumeet Mahajan was assigned three Training center Inspections at different locations in Jaipur, Rajasthan of PIAs M/s Safeeducate Learning, Lotus Educational Society, and V-Mart.
In his own words:
It was a great experience visiting the training centers and interacting with PIA staff and enrolled candidates. All the PIAs have good infrastructure. During the interaction with the staff, it was inferred that the challenges are more or less the same in the mobilization of beneficiaries and placement of trained candidates with a slight change in the approach to providing resolution to the hindrances. During the inspections, it was observed that there is active involvement of SRLM in all aspects of DDU-GKY for smooth implementation, be it in conducting timely inspections, mobilizations, approvals to PIAs, swift communications etc. It was wonderful experience interacting with the trainees, they were found to be very inquisitive about the placements being offered to them after the completion of training program, with an openness to move outside the districts for placements.

Rozgar Mela organised at Rohtak
Under the DDU-GKY scheme, a Rozgar Mela was organised at Rohtak on 26.10.2023 chairman Zila Parishad Smt. Manju Hooda (Rohtak) was the Chief Guest of the event. About 1088 rural youth of Rohtak district registered their names for job opportunities and skill training. 16 employers participated & about 300 candidates were shortlisted and 43 candidates were given on the spot offer letters. 57 distinguished Alumni were also felicitated during the event. Out of 57 Alumni, 19 alumni have completed one year or more in their job. 100 SHG members who contributed to the promotion of DDU-GKY Scheme also participated in the event.

Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission (HSRLM) in collaboration with PIAs organize Job Mela
Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission (HSRLM) in collaboration with PIAs organized Job Mela on 26th October 2023 at Zila Vikas Bhavan, District Rohtak.1143 job/skilling aspirants attended the Job Fair from five districts namely Rohtak, Jhajjar, Jind, and Sonipat. During the Job Fair, 16 employers came from within and outside the state with numerous employment opportunities for job seekers in sectors such as Logistics, Tourism & Hospitality, Food Processing, IT-ITeS, Manufacturing, Retail etc.

Training program conducted in the month of October 2023
In the month on Oct’23 total 7 training programs were conducted, of these three programs were conducted in offline mode at Gujarat and Puducherry and four programs were conducted in online mode. The programs were conducted on topics of Centre Management, Due Diligence & Inspection, Placement Procedure, Financial Procedure, PFMS and Kaushal Bharat Modules. Through these training 199 personnel were upskilled.

Kaushal Bharat Refresher Training for Gujarat SRLM officials and Kaushal Bharat – Inspection Module for officials of Puducherry SRLM & PIAs was held on 30th Oct’23 & 31st Oct’23 at their respective states. In this training total 54 officials were upskilled.
Online Training Conducted
As per the training calendar for the month the online training was conducted on Centre Management, Due Diligence, Placement Procedure and PFMS. Through these online sessions 109 personnel were upskilled. In these training personnel from the states of Haryana, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Gujarat & Manipur.

A group of 60 rural youths from Balod and Bemetara district trained under DDU-GKY Chhattisgarh have joined Ramachandran Retail Pvt Ltd. in Kerala as Retail Sales Associates. In their new roles, all of them will get salaries of 1.50 lakhs per year, with accommodation, food and transport facilities. Heartfelt best wishes to all these young lads for a promising and prosperous future.

SEEDAP Skill college candidates
Guntur SEEDAP Skill college candidates came to Hyderabad for placements out of the 13 candidates who got selected, salary is 16000 INR for Inter students and 18000 INR for Degree candidates. (2 months 5000 INR supporting for food & accommodation purpose)
