Here are inspiring success stories of individuals whose lives were transformed by the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). These narratives highlight the resilience of rural youth who overcame challenges and found new paths through skill training.
Rupali Nongrum
– Pioneering Career Opportunities Beyond Borders

- Background: Rupali, from Thynroid village in Meghalaya, became the first in her village to work outside the State.
- Transformation: After training in DDU-GKY’s Food & Beverage Service, she took her first job as a Housekeeper at Shawn Elizey in Madhya Pradesh, earning ₹10,000 per month and later worked as a Stewardess at Big Daddy Casino in Goa, where her salary increased to ₹17,000.
- Impact: Rupali’s journey brought financial security to her family and inspired others in her village to consider new career paths.
Kronda Khriam
– Breaking Barriers from the Remote Laitlum Canyons

Background: Kronda, the daughter of farmers from Rasong village in Meghalaya, grew up in a remote area connected to the outside world by only a single ropeway. Despite poverty and language limitations, she was determined to create a better future.
Transformation: Through DDU-GKY’s training in Food & Beverage Services, she secured her first job as a Housekeeper at Shawn Elizey in Madhya Pradesh, earning ₹10,000 per month. She later moved up to a Stewardess role at Big Daddy Casino in Goa, where her salary rose to ₹17,000.
Impact: Kronda’s success brought financial stability, raised her family’s social standing, and boosted her self-esteem. Her journey inspires others in her village to pursue opportunities beyond traditional roles.
Hassadela Surong
– Empowering Rural Women in Meghalaya

Background: Hassa, from Thangsning village, was encouraged by her mother to pursue career training to support their family.
Transformation: Through DDU-GKY’s Food & Beverage Service training, Hassa started as a Stewardess at Delta Corp in Goa. Her salary rose from ₹10,000 to ₹21,000, and she received two Certificates of Appreciation.
Impact: Hassa’s journey has empowered other young women in her community, showing that financial independence and career growth are achievable with the right support.
Ribakmen Kharumnuid
– Building a Career in the Hospitality Industry

Background: Ribakmen, from Thangsning village in the Mawkynrew block of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, enrolled in DDU-GKY to enhance her prospects.
Transformation: After completing training in the Food & Beverage Service, Ribakmen began her career as an F&B Stewardess at Delta Corp in Goa with a starting salary of ₹10,000. Her dedication and progress led to a raise to ₹18,000 after six months, and she later secured her second placement at Double Tree by Hilton with a package of ₹21,000 per month.
Impact: Ribakmen’s journey exemplifies how DDU-GKY’s support can empower rural youth, helping them to achieve financial independence and sustainable career growth.
Dashisha Nongkynrih
– Transforming Her Family’s Financial Future

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dashisha from Laitlum village, Meghalaya, faced financial hardship that threatened her family’s stability.
Transformation: She joined DDU-GKY’s Food & Beverage Service, securing a job as a Stewardess at Delta Corp in Goa. Starting at ₹10,000, her dedication led to a salary increase to ₹21,000.
Impact: Now financially independent, Dashisha supports her family and serves as a role model in her village, demonstrating the power of skill training to create positive change.
These stories reflect the transformative power of DDU-GKY. Each individual’s success not only improved their own lives but also brought hope and inspiration to their families and communities, showing that determination and access to skill training can change lives.
PIA Review by MoRD in the State of Kerala
Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and NIRPR- Central Technical Support Agency (CTSA) officials conducted PIA review and Training center visit in Kerala 17th and 18th December 2024 for assessing DDU-GKY progress in the State and for providing necessary support.
The purpose of the visit was to review the progress of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) program in the state and provide necessary support for its successful implementation by Kerala SRLM (Kudumbashree). During the visit, the officials assessed the program’s performance, identified challenges, and discussed strategies for improvement.
Mrs.Dhrit Bania, Mission Manager, MoRD, Mr.BinuKumar.G.S, State Team Manager, NIRDPR , (CTSA), Mr.Pradeepkumar, Chief Operating Officer reviewed the projects in the presence of SRLM staff and PIA officials.
On, 17th December 2024, a PIA wise review was conducted where the following were reviewed:
– The current status of the projects in the state
– Challenges faced by the PIAs/state in implementing the program
– Suggestions for enhancing the program’s effectiveness and efficiency

Training Center visit:
A joint visit was made to the training Center of M/s Inductus Consultants Pvt Ltd. with CTSA and SRLM officials on On, 18th December 2024.
Recommendation:
- SRLM must call for personal hearing of the PIA Board of Directors, for the mismanagement of the project by the Authorised Signatory and disregard of State directives to attend review meetings.
- SRLM to take up immediate measure to ensure presence of the MIS & Placement staff in the training center in view of the poor achievement related to placement and ensure all placement related processes are completed by 31st March 2025.
- SRLM may issue clear instruction not to commence any further trainings as it will impact placement of the trained candidates as no placement will be allowed after March 2025 in the Kaushal Bharat.

Rozgar Mela in Panipat: Empowering Rural Youth Under DDU-GKY
On December 16, 2024, the Haryana State Rural Livelihoods Mission (HSRLM) organized a Rozgar Mela in Panipat under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). This large-scale event brought together over 90 employers from diverse sectors, creating more than 20,000 job opportunities for rural youth. The Mela witnessed participation from 29 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), 1,500 Self-Help Group (SHG) members, 150 candidates undergoing training, and 224 alumni. Shri Krishan Lal Panwar, Hon’ble Minister of Development and Panchayats, Haryana, graced the occasion, adding prominence to this impactful initiative.
The Rozgar Mela is a testament to HSRLM’s unwavering dedication to empowering rural communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods. Through skill development and employment facilitation, it bridged the gap between job seekers and potential employers, ensuring economic empowerment at the grassroots level. The event’s success also highlights the inclusive strategy of involving SHG members, trainees, and alumni, ensuring that different sections of the rural populace benefit equally. Such initiatives play a critical role in reducing unemployment and improving the quality of life in rural regions.

This achievement reflects the Haryana government’s commitment to rural development and its focus on collaborative efforts to uplift marginalized communities. The Rozgar Mela is a stepping stone towards self-reliance, skill enhancement, and economic growth, setting a benchmark for future initiatives aimed at empowering rural youth across the nation.
SEEDAP Launches Placement Helpline to Boost Youth Employment in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – In a significant move aimed at tackling unemployment and empowering the youth of Andhra Pradesh, the Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development in Andhra Pradesh (SEEDAP) has launched a dedicated placement helpline. This initiative seeks to connect job seekers with employment opportunities and provide much-needed support to those navigating the often-challenging job market.
The helpline, accessible by dialling 0866-2571125/ 8008879191, will serve as a central point of contact for all youth in Andhra Pradesh who are actively seeking employment. Whether fresh graduates or individuals looking for a career change, the helpline aims to be a valuable resource, connecting them with potential employers and guidance.
This initiative goes beyond merely connecting job seekers with available vacancies. Recognizing the specific needs of those trained under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY), the helpline will also address their grievances. DDUGKY trained youth will be able to reach out for support if they require a change of employment, ensuring that their skills and qualifications are matched with suitable opportunities.
SEEDAP officials have stressed that this helpline is designed to be accessible and user-friendly, providing accurate and up-to-date information on job vacancies and relevant training programs. The initiative is part of a larger commitment by the Andhra Pradesh government to prioritize youth employment and economic growth.
To ensure widespread awareness and support for this vital service, all elected public representatives of the state have been informed about the launch of the helpline. This proactive approach aims to embed the service within the community, making it easily accessible to all those who need it. The SEEDAP-operated and maintained helpline is expected to be a game-changer in Andhra Pradesh’s employment landscape. By providing a direct line of communication between job seekers and opportunities, the initiative aims to streamline the recruitment process and ultimately contribute to both individual prosperity and the overall economic well-being of the state.

Love Green Association, Kerala
Christmas Celebration
The Love green Association celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm and warmth in the name of Santa Amigos. The event was a grand success, filled with joy, unity, and the true spirit of Christmas. To mark the occasion, students arranged a beautiful Christmas crib at the entrance of the venue, depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.
The day was further enlivened with cultural programs organized and performed by the students. These included vibrant dances, melodious carols, and engaging skits, all reflecting the joy and essence of Christmas.
Adding to the festive cheer, teachers and students joined together for a lively carolling session, accompanied by Santa Claus and Jesus Christ. The group spread happiness as they sang carols and walked together in the nearby areas. The event was a heart-warming success, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a renewed sense of unity and holiday spirit.

Report on Awareness Programme against Online Financial Scams, Insurance and income management
Love Green organized an insightful awareness programme on 29th December 2024, focusing on combating online financial scams, understanding insurance and claims, and effectively managing personal income. The event was held to educate participants about financial safety and prudent spending habits in today’s digital era.
The programme saw active participation from students, who showed great enthusiasm in engaging with the topics. The session highlighted the various types of online financial frauds, common tactics used by scammers, and preventive measures to avoid falling victim to such schemes. Experts also provided a detailed overview of insurance policies, claims processes, and the importance of evaluating financial risks before committing to insurance plans.

Additionally, the event emphasized the significance of budgeting and allocating income wisely. Speakers provided practical tips on setting financial goals, avoiding unnecessary expenditures, and building savings for the future
Interactive activities, including quizzes and case studies, were conducted to reinforce the learning experience. Students participated actively, raising questions and sharing their thoughts, which added to the programme’s success.
ERP (Emergency Rescue Planning), First Aid And Fire Fighting Training
The Kerala Fire and Rescue Services conducted a comprehensive ERP First Aid and Fire Fighting Training session on 9th December 2024 at the Lovegreen Association, Puliyarmala. This session was attended by all students and staff members, ensuring full participation. The training aimed to enhance awareness and equip participants with essential skills in first aid and fire safety. The expert team from the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services conducted live demonstrations of critical first aid procedures, including: Basic life support techniques, Handling injuries burns and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) procedures.

The event concluded with an open forum where participants clarified doubts and shared their experiences, making the session both informative and practical. We extend our gratitude to the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services for their invaluable contribution and to the Lovegreen Association, Puliyarmala, for hosting this vital event.
Jharkhand SRLM conducted a special recruitment drive exclusively for female candidates of DDU-GKY program
Jharkhand SRLM conducted a special recruitment drive exclusively for female candidates of DDU-GKY program. As a result, 60 candidates have been selected for employment with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). These candidates are set to begin their professional journey at TASL’s Hyderabad location on February 5, 2025.

Training program conducted in the month of Dec, 2024
The Training & Development team organised two programs in the month of December’24. The array of programs conducted includes one online and one offline programs at NIRDPR. The programs covered topics on Quality Management & Skill Development. In these programs 71 officials of SRLMs/ PIAs & KVIC were up-skilled in the respective themes.
Online Program for the month
Online Programs on Quality Management in DDU-GKY was organized for the SRLM and PIA functionaries of DDU-GKY on 19th Dec’24. Total 45 officials of SRLMs & PIAs were up-skilled through these programs.
Offline Programs for the month
In the month, one offline program was conducted at NIRD&PR campus in Hyderabad. A program in collaboration with RTP for Capacity Building Program on Skill Development for Khadi Units under KVIC (Batch -II) was organized from 2nd to 6th Dec’24. In this program 26 officials participated from KVIC center.
